Williamsburg, Virginia
Since the project’s inception, Ford’s Colony has been
sensitive to environmental preservation in creating this 2800 acre
upscale golf course community.
Professional Wetlands Scientist Melvin Thomas evaluated, planned,
and developed a wetland mitigation plan for this project. He represented
Ford’s Colony in securing the environmental control permits
from the Corps of Engineers, Virginia Marine Resources, and the
Department of Environmental Quality. Generous green spaces, buffers
and preserves provide a haven for wildlife and flora. A wetlands
preservations area – currently 100 acres, with plans to double
the preserve – was established on Powhatan Creek. Koontz-Bryant
remains active with the ongoing wetlands mitigation project.
Ford’s Colony has received numerous awards and commendations
for the conservation of natural resources.
