Virginia's Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) passes revised Secondary Street Acceptance Requirements (SSAR)

The Virginia General Assembly passed Senate Bill 1462 during the 2011 session (Chapter 870) of the 2011 Acts of Assembly. Chapter 870 directs the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to develop revisions in several areas that will involve the design of future developments. A big THANK YOU! to everyone who "likes" us on our Facebook Page! I'm so happy to announce that we have hit our goal of 100 fans. This month we celebrated Halloween with a Pot Luck lunch and had a costume contest where Chris Workman won us over with his excellent skills in make-up transforming himself into Dracula! You can see pictures of our event on our Facebook Page.

What Is the Future of GPS and the AE Industry?

There is a large debate going on in Washington and across the country concerning the future of GPS. The debate surrounds the company LightSquared and their proposed wireless broadband network.

LightSquared is a private company with plans to develop a 4G-LTE (Long Term Evolution) broadband wireless communication network that incorporates satellite and land based transmitters to provide coverage across the United States. LightSquared controls 1525-1559MHZ of the United States spectrum and received U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) authorization in 2004 to build its nationwide network.
